BEAUTY STARTS WITHIN

Updated: May 18, 2021

I know what you're thinking... "Sure it does RHONDA?!". Once upon a time, I was an aspiring nurse, so all the sciences were taken chemistry, biology, anatomy and physiology. I have learned so much about how the body works and our SKIN! And let's not forget those long days spent at Aveda for six months....just awful. That's a whole other subject.

Did you know that our skin is the largest organ of the body?? Our skin absorbs what goes ON IT and is effected by what we PUT IN it. And everyone yelled, why in the land of Tex Mex, barbecue, cajun food, and chemicals ?! It can be pure torture to avoid certain foods and also inconvenient and pricey to buy the right, safe products. Don't worry I am not here to tell you to NEVER eat such delicious foods or to avoid all chemicals. I think it's nearly impossible these days. However, it is necessary to find balance in your life. Be mindful of what you put in and on your body. Our body and skin have a nonstop job!

If you want to learn more about nutrition, check out Dr. Sten Ekberg. This guy honestly takes an unbiased approach to natural and holistic health. He doesn't knock diets or other products in the pursuit to sell his own. He is simply sharing "a lifetime of knowledge" (movie she's the man voice).

Amazon Tip: Only buy from trusted vendors, buying from the wrong vendor will leave you disappointed. My links are to the trusted vendors!

Here are some of the items I put ON and IN my body in the AM and PM!

AM Routine: ON

  1. Face - Since I washed my face the night before, I grab my Thayers Facial Toner with a warm rag. A couple plops onto the rag and wipe my face. The toner can also be transferred into a spray bottle; spritzed throughout the day for moisture or as a nice primer for makeup.

  2. Eyes - Found this little gem, LilyAna Naturals Eye Cream to hydrate and treat!

  3. Face SPF - If you're in the sun, wear sunscreen. Having a lifetime of sensitive skin, I am happy to have found Coola Face Cucumber Sunscreen. Moisturizing without the grease and ZERO irritation!

AM Routine: IN

  1. I start my day with COFFEEEEE lol I drink Peet's Dark Roast coffee all the way black and I am in love. It’s the cream and sugars that give coffee a bad rap. But if you must honey and oat milk taste really nice! While researching I also found that Peet's does have an Organic Version which I will try. So, ye be waarrrned, I have not tried the organic, but it has great reviews!

  2. Vega One All-in-One Shake! I love-love the Coconut Almond flavor. There's also Vanilla, Chocolate and Vanilla Chai. When I run out of my Coconut Almond, I am going to try the Ashwagandha. Say that 3-times fast!

  3. Add some Organic Turmeric to your shake/smoothie for an added benefit! There is so much research that proves Turmeric is truly a blessing to your body with it's anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. This can go into your PM routine as well.

After yoga, I will eat a more hearty breakfast like ezekial bread with almond butter and sliced strawberries ANNNNDDD I may opt for an avocado and egg taco. I don't deprive myself of food, but I find my balance.

PM Routine: ON

  1. Cleanse - When I feel like being extra good to my skin, I will opt for a pre-cleanse like Now Solutions Castor Oil prior to cleansing. Literally rub the oil all over your face - that's it. It takes oils to break down oils and helps replenish moisture prior to stripping when you cleanse. I have bought Pacifica Coconut Milk Cream to Foam face wash repeatedly.

  2. Eyes - Same as AM, use LilyAna Naturals Eye Cream to hydrate and treat! Pic is above!

  3. Moisturize - Right now I am using Seoul Ceuticals Snail Repair Cream. Don't you worry the snails are alive and not harmed! Well, that's what they say anyway...

PM Routine: IN

  1. My sleepy time budget splurge is Vital Proteins Blueberry Moon Milk Collagen Latte. It's as good as it sounds and it truly does make you relaxed and sleepy. I mix my scoop in warm water. I honestly see a difference in my skin, hair, and nails! No BS.

  2. When you don't want to budget for the moon milk or simply refuse, a nice alternative is Pukka Chamomile Vanilla. Although it doesn't have all the same benefits as the Moon Milk, it is relaxing and drinking warm, healthy teas at any time has so many other benefits! I have also linked Pukka's Day to Night variety pack. I have yet to drink a Pukka tea that I didn't like.

  3. Add some Organic Turmeric to your night time routines as well.
