Summa Time Fine

Updated: May 25, 2021

From everyday use to celebrating an upcoming staycation or vacation, being effortlessly cute while protecting your skin from head to toe, is easy to do with the right products! Take it from me, as a mom who suffers the disrespectful Texas summers, each and every year, these products are tried and true and take little time to apply! As a side note, if you continue to read my blog posts, you will soon get the picture that I am cheap and lazy. Hey-hey now before you judge, I didn't say I was cheap and easy! I am very picky! I like to consider myself a woman of efficiencies while being very budget conscious.

Amazon Tip: Only buy from trusted vendors, buying from the wrong vendor will leave you disappointed. My links are to the trusted vendors!

SKIN COVERAGE

If you live in a humid climate, you already know heavy makeup during the summer is a total waste of time and product! BB and CC creams are great all-in-one products. Gives you the right amount of coverage with various skin benefits like SPF. I've got a few recommendations for different budgets. iT Cosmetics has a CC foundation is silky smooth, Purlisse Perfect Glow BB Cream feels very light, and Maybelline's Dream BB Fresh works well and has a lower price point! Application Tip: Speed up your application time by spritzing your face with my fave toner Thayer's Facial Toner to add moisture, apply the BB cream with a kabuki brush (faster than sponge/blender), add another spritz of toner to set the cream base covered, and set with a powder to minimize shine. I like Revlon Colostay Setting Powder, plus it doesn't have talc.

BRONZER

it Cosmetics is a great brand that's also good for your skin! Their Bye Bye Pores Bronzer feels like silk with pore minimizing and blurring technologies that make the application look flawless. This can be used for a quick touch of sun, for contouring, and on your eyelids. Application Tip: For bronzing/contouring use a small fluffy brush to apply; starting right under the highest point of your cheek bones AND applying in upward motions. Do not use a heavy hand, let the brush do the work. This is true for all makeup brushes. You're welcome.

LIPS

Oh Revlon, how your lip products never seem to disappoint! I've used various high end brands as a makeup artist and find that Revlon is my go-to. I am sharing two products with different goals. Revlon Kiss Lip Balm is nourishing and protects your lips from the sun, so it's perfect for pool or beachside. Revlon Ultra HD Lip Mousse, Hyper Matte is more like a lipstick that stays all day and does not make your lips feel gross or crackly. The lip mousse is my go to recommendation for brides and boudoir makeup clients. Application Tip: Exfoliate those lips and remove any outside moisture prior to applying the lip products.

LASHES

Lash but not least (lol), a mascara that does not disappoint and is extremely affordable, Essence Lash Princess and they have a waterproof version. I can confidently compare this to Thrive Cosmetics mascara. I have personally used both and experienced no difference in quality. Thrive's full size mascara costs around $40. This is no knock to Thrive because their mascara is wonderful. However, me personally, if I don't have to spend that amount on a mascara, I will not! If you'd like to hear more about my take on mascara and a lash serum, combined costing the same as the full size Thrive mascara , check out my Best Lashes Ever blog post for the deets. Application Tip: Curl your lashes prior to applying the mascara.

HAIR

Up the ante with your sun prep by protecting your hair! We all know how hot tools wreak havoc

on our tresses, but seem to for get about the sun! Use this Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil hair primer before and after blow drying or air drying to receive it's UV and heat protection benefits. Style and set with your hair with my two favorite hairsprays, OGX and Moroccanoil If you plan to swim, the SoCozy Swim Spray Conditioner will seal your hair cuticle to shield your hair from pool/sun/salt damage. Application Tip: The Bumble and Bumble Invisible oil should be added to damp hair prior to styling and the SoCozy Swim Spray is not a styling product; it is a shield for your hair when you are swimming etc.
